Some love stories deserve more than documentation.
They deserve direction, soundtrack, storyline.
For Joe and Alex, this story became a collaboration — not just between me and them — but between me and my husband, my favorite creative partner, a cinematographer with an eye for narrative and emotion. Together, we don’t just capture moments. We build worlds around them.
We met Joe and Alex about a year before their wedding day when they booked me for their engagement session. From the start, their chemistry was effortless. I always encourage couples to bring themselves into their photos — not just outfits and locations, but personality. Quirks. Humor. The subtle ways they communicate without speaking.
They understood the assignment.
Their engagement session was fun, relaxed, and completely them. There was laughter that couldn’t be staged and connection that didn’t need direction. During the shoot, they mentioned they were still looking for a wedding photographer. I could have shifted into “booking mode.”
But I didn’t.
I wanted them to live in that moment — fully. No pressure. Just presence.
What we did talk about, though, was one of our shared loves: movies. Romantic comedies. Cinematic storytelling. The way a love story can unfold in chapters — with tension, humor, rain, triumph, and a beautiful ending.
That conversation planted a seed.
Three months after delivering their engagement gallery, Alex’s mom reached out and asked to sit down with us. She wanted to talk about documenting their love story in a deeper way. When we shared our vision — a rom-com style film that would follow their journey leading up to the wedding — she didn’t hesitate.
We were booked.
We met with Joe and Alex and asked them a simple but powerful question:
If your love story was a movie, what would have to be in it?
They shared the little things. Their inside jokes. Their favorite date nights. The quiet habits no one else sees. We mapped out intentional shooting days over six months — building their story in scenes. And the finale?
The wedding day, of course.
And then… September arrived.
It poured.
Not just a drizzle. Not a passing shower. It was that kind of steady, unapologetic rain that chooses every single weekend — and somehow, that season, I had a wedding every weekend in the rain.
But here’s the thing about storytelling: sometimes the unexpected becomes the best character.
So we used it.
The rain wasn’t an inconvenience. It became atmosphere. It became drama. It became softness and reflection and depth. The droplets on the veil. The shimmer on the pavement. The way Joe pulled Alex closer under the umbrella without even thinking.
It felt cinematic. Honest. Real.
The day was wet — but it was beautiful.
By then, their family wasn’t just “clients’ family.” Over six months of planning, filming, laughing, and dreaming, we had become part of their circle. They welcomed us like family. Trusted us like family. Celebrated with us like family.
And that’s what 50 frames of forever really means.
Not just images.
Not just footage.
But a story told with intention.
A love captured in chapters.
A rainy wedding day that refused to be anything less than magical.
Joe and Alex didn’t just hire us.
They invited us into their story.
And we’ll always be grateful for that.
