Rolling Into Wedding Season with Grace, Love & New Perspectives

Wedding season is officially here — and I’m beyond excited! Every year brings something new: new love stories, new traditions, new challenges, and new lessons. This year, I kicked off my season with a wedding that truly touched my heart and reminded me why I love what I do.

The bride? A radiant, fearless woman who has been in a wheelchair since she was 16.
The groom? Her biggest supporter, coffee partner, and best friend.
Their love? Unshakable, God-centered, and beautifully raw.

Photographing a wedding where accessibility needs are part of the planning process is a different kind of journey — one that requires more intention, more awareness, and a whole lot of heart. And I’ll be honest: I was nervous. I wanted to honor her fully, capture her joy, and tell their story truthfully and beautifully.

Here’s what I learned:

1. Perspective Is Everything (Literally and Figuratively)

Getting the right angle matters — always. But when your subject is in a wheelchair, your perspective has to shift, literally. I spent a lot of time shooting at eye level with the bride, which not only created more intimate and authentic photos, but also gave the images a sense of empowerment and grace. I wasn’t “looking down” — I was seeing with her.

2. Communication Is Key

Before the big day, we talked. A lot. We discussed what she was comfortable with, what she wanted, what she didn’t want, and how she envisioned her photos. That open line of communication made everything smoother and let her know she was seen, heard, and respected.

3. Adaptability Is Your Superpower

There were some shots I had in mind that just didn’t make sense logistically. Instead of forcing them, I pivoted. We found alternatives that felt more natural — and honestly, the final results were even better than what I imagined. Every challenge gave us an opportunity to get creative.

4. Love Will Always Lead the Way

No matter what tools you use to get down the aisle — heels, boots, or wheels — love is what carries you forward. Their love was magnetic. The way he looked at her, adjusted her dress, made her laugh… those little moments made the biggest impact. And they reminded me why I adore photographing weddings.

This wedding wasn’t about limitations — it was about love rising above every one of them. It reminded me that beauty, strength, and grace show up in so many forms — and that our job as photographers isn’t to “fix” or “hide” anything… it’s to highlight the truth, the connection, and the joy.

So here’s to a season full of unexpected moments, bold love, and beautiful stories.
And to this couple — thank you for letting me be part of yours.

Let the season begin. 💍📸
