Game On: The House of Holmes League Tips Off
Former WNBA star Bria Holmes is passing the rock back to her community—and this time, it’s for the grown-ups. If you thought women’s competitive basketball in Connecticut stopped after college, think again!
Holmes has officially launched the House of Holmes League, a brand-new adult women’s basketball league (18+) designed to bring high-level hoops, community vibes, and serious competition back to the hardwood.
Hosted in partnership with Athletes R Us, MPACT, and the Day Hill Dome, the league tipped off its inaugural season on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. I had the privilege of covering opening night, and let me tell you—the energy inside the building was absolutely electric.
The Fast Facts:
-
What: House of Holmes League (18+ Adult Women's Basketball)
-
Where: Day Hill Dome in Windsor, Connecticut
-
The Schedule: A fast-paced 6-week season with games every Wednesday and Sunday
From the opening tip to the final buzzer, there was nonstop action. The players left it all on the court, showing off relentless passion, sharp skills, and pure grit. But beyond the fierce matchups and the squeak of sneakers, it was clear this league is about something bigger. It’s a dedicated space for women athletes to keep their love for the game alive, build a strong community, and continue competing at a high level.
Seeing a local legend like Bria Holmes use her platform to invest in women’s sports right here in Connecticut is incredibly inspiring. As a photographer, capturing the raw emotion, teamwork, and joy of these athletes was an absolute honor.
Opening night was just the warm-up, and this season is already shaping up to be something special. I can’t wait to be courtside to document all the unforgettable moments to come!
